I'm taking doxycycline for lyme disease. I'm supposed to be on it for 30-60 days. I've heard this drug can stain teeth. Is it a risk for 30-60 days of treatment? Can I prevent this?Doxycycline stains teeth?
It usually is lone a problem for people whose teeth are still forming (i.e. children). If your unchanging teeth haven't come in nonetheless, they might grow in discolored, because it can bind to the calcium within your teeth while they are growing. So it is (generally) not recommended contained by kids under nearly 13 or 14 years old. If you are an full-size, or you have adjectives of your permanent teeth, I wouldn't verbs about it.
I took doxycycline for longer than that and never notice a problem. If you want to sure not to stain your teeth rinse yor mouth with heat salt marine a few times a day. Water mixed beside baking soda also helps.
i work within a pharmacy and work with customers who hold lymes. they've taken doxycycline for more than 60 days and NOT one of them had stained teeth. they did their ordinary brush 2x daily etc.
