My mother is a carrier, but my father is hispanic and we hold been told hispanics don't take the gene, but I am curious if anyone else has hear that...Does anyone know if Hispanics take the gene for Cyctic Fibrosis??
Exactly. Anyone can be a carrier. In decree to be a carrier, one or both of your parents enjoy to be carriers. CF is a genetic disease so the mutations is passed down the generation. CF carriers do NOT own CF. They do not even have symptoms of CF. In instruct to have the disease, you MUST inherit TWO copies of the defective gene- one from respectively parent. And, even when you know that you have two carter parents having a child, within is only a 25% destiny the baby will enjoy CF. There will be a 50% chance they will be born a haulier and a 25% chance they will not inherit any copy of the defective gene. If you are a carrier and are concerned nearly having a child, merely have your partner tested. If they are NOT a shipper, it would be absolutely impossible to enjoy a child with CF. If you are both carrier, you still have simply a one out of four chance of have a child with the disease. Being tested for carter status is just an trouble-free blood test.
Absolutely a hispanic can be a shipper of the CF gene. In fact, your probability, as a hispanic, are one in 46 of human being a carrier! That is in the order of half the ratio for caucasion (one surrounded by 25) but still absolutely possible!
All race can get it, although it's most adjectives with Caucasians.
