Does anyone know what test to ask for to examination for diabetes while on glucophage?

I've been on Glucophage XR 1500mg day by day for treatment of PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome). Last month I was diagnosed next to gastroparesis (lazy stomach) which occurs plentifully in diabetics. My grandmother died due to complications from diabetes. Are nearby any tests I should ask for to receive sure I don't have diabetes? Would I involve to stop the Glucophage to get tested? Any suggestions?Does anyone know what test to ask for to examination for diabetes while on glucophage?
PCOS is associated beside a higher risk of type 2 diabetes, so it is possible that your Doctor is already monitoring some of these levels. In tally to what RhapsodyinBlue suggested, I would make sure they check your insulin level and do a glucose tolerance test. The reality that you are already on glucophage bodes well for you if you do enjoy diabetes since glucophage can be used to treat type 2 diabetes as well as PCOS (it originally be developed as a type 2 diabetes medication). Good luck!
You do not need to stop it. They will do specific diabetes trialling and you will not eat or drink anything after midnight up to that time they do the test. It depends on which try-out your doc prefers as to which they will do. Call your clinic and speak to the docs nurse and ask if he would order diabetes carrying out tests for you.
You probably need a panel of test done. Your doctor will most probably order an A1c ( to check for diabetes which tells what your average blood sugar have been over a 3 month period), a glucose theory test, and a TSH (thyroid panel) and perhaps a lipid panel too. The A1C will narrate your doc alot though. I have PCOS & Diabetes. You do not enjoy to go stale of your glucophage but you will need to hurriedly beforehand.
